To Make Him Known

To Know God

A generation waits for us to make a decision

What will we give our lives to?

So many things compete for the center of our hearts — some good, some not. Yet even when we gain them, something is still missing. True fulfillment can only be found in Jesus.
We discover our purpose when we respond to the greatest need the name of Jesus saw and acted on: humanity without hope.

Here’s the question:

Almost half the world has no access to the gospel. A generation is waiting.

 What will your response be?

This week, we’ve gathered together as eight DTS schools from across Europe with one heart — to know God more deeply and to be freshly stirred for His mission in the nations.

As we listen, learn, and respond together, we believe God wants to expand our vision, build faith, and send us out again with courage and love. Whether we’re tuning in from Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, or beyond — we are one family, part of one story, and called to one mission.

Throughout this week, this page will be your space to stay connected and engaged.
Let’s lean in with open hearts and expectation — ready for what God wants to do in us and through us as we unite around His global purpose.

“Here am I. Send me!” – Isaiah 6:8

YOUTH WITH A MISSION

a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world since 1960.

  • Youth with a Mission (YWAM) was founded in 1960 by Loren Cunningham. It is an international movement of Christians from many denominations. The vision is to see waves of young people going from every nation to every nation for the sake of the gospel and the glory of God. For over 60 years this global movement has trained and sent out young people to follow Jesus wherever He leads, believing that everyone can hear His voice and must obey Him. We have teams in almost every nation on earth and still believe that God wants to release even more young people into their missional calling.

Our goal is to know God and make Him known. We do this through Evangelism, Mercy Ministry and Training. YWAM is a family of ministries that give expression to this goal in a multitude of ways according to the giftings and callings of our teams. We run orphanages, do Bible studies with surfers, educate children, teach agricultural practices, talk to strangers on the street, gather artists for collabs and work with policy makers in government. What unites us is our love for Jesus and our common history, purpose and values.

This shared purpose and our YWAM beliefs and values are the guiding principles for both the past and future growth of our mission. Some are common to all Christians everywhere; others are distinctive to Youth With A Mission. The combination of this purpose, beliefs, values and practices makes up the unique family characteristics of YWAM—our “DNA.” They are the framework we hold in high regard for they help us determine who we are, how we live and how we make decisions.

  • This document presents YWAM’s sincerely held purpose, core beliefs, and foundational values which have been compiled in response to specific directives given by God since YWAM’s beginning in 1960. They are recorded here in order to pass on to successive generations that which God has emphasized to us.

Please take some time to read through it.

  • HISTORY
Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is a Christian missionary movement founded in 1960 by Loren Cunningham with a clear call to fulfill the Great Commission. Out of this vision, the first Discipleship Training School (DTS) was launched in 1969, creating a foundation for training young people to know God and make Him known. In 1978, the University of the Nations (UofN) was established in Kona, Hawaii, as a missionary training university designed to equip people holistically for life and ministry in every sphere of society.
The UofN has since grown into a global, decentralized, and multicultural university with over 600 training locations worldwide. Its heart is to form Christlike character, impart practical skills, and integrate hands-on outreach into every course. Organized into seven colleges, it offers short-term courses, certificates, and degrees, though its primary strength lies in equipping and sending workers into missions. Today, the UofN is one of the largest missionary training movements in the world, continually pioneering, multiplying, and empowering people to bring God’s love to the nations and into every sphere of society.

    AFTER DTS
Finishing your DTS is just the beginning. The UofN opens up a wide range of courses designed to deepen your faith, sharpen your skills, and equip you for missional living wherever God calls you. From Bible and leadership training to arts, education, counseling, communication, and more, these courses give you practical tools to serve God’s purposes in the nations. You can explore the full range of opportunities on the UofN website.

  • Loren Cunningham was in his early twenties when God called him to mobilize young people into missions. This was a massive paradigm shift in his time! Learn more about him and his wife Darlene here.

YWAM HEIDEBEEK

You’re about to join over 82 million people in a country celebrated as the land of poets and thinkers, and birthplace of world-changing inventions, from the printing press to modern cars. Germany’s history, culture, and innovation run deep, and you’ll soon discover both its charm and its quirks.

The following section will give you a practical glimpse into everyday life here, what to expect, what might surprise you, and how things may differ from what you’re used to, so you can feel at home faster.

  • The capital that is unlike any other place in Germany. Berlin is the city that draws the artists, the misfits, the idealists. One of the leading cities for start-up companies in Europe. A political epicenter. Home to major universities and Europe’s largest university hospital. Dancing to the beat of techno. A cultural melting pot. With a wide variety of museums and parks. The city of spies. Berlin has a lot to offer. Everywhere you go, you will see evidence of its rich history. This city is marked by its past and the wounds of generations. Yet it has also seen miracles and redemption in breathtaking ways. Berlin is a city that has always had influence. Both for good and for evil. It is a city that sets things in motion and shakes up the status quo. In business, in the arts, in politics, in science, in cultures. And it is a catalyst for the Kingdom of God to go forth! What if people come here to find themselves and find God instead? Artists leaning to commune with the Creator. World changers leading with compassion and radical love. Foreigners finding a home in the family of God. Atheists being transformed

  • Germany has mild temperatures. You will arrive in the fall where the weather can be anywhere between sunny and stormy. Temperatures average between 10°C and 19°C (50°F-67°F). Winters are cold with a mix of rain, sometimes snow, and average temperatures around 0°C - 4°C (32-39°F). Summers are mild and pleasant, with average high temperatures of 24°C (75°F) and lows of 12°C (53°F).

It does rain quite a bit in the fall and winter months, so you may want to bring suitable clothing with you. There is a German saying that says, 'There is no bad weather, only bad clothing'.

In general the weather is prone to changing quite a bit and quickly.

  • Nearly every town or city has bike lanes. Don't walk in them or you risk getting run over or yelled at. Germans take their biking seriously and it’s a common mode of transport.

See you soon!!
