To Make Him Known

To Know God

A generation waits for us to make a decision

What will we give our lives to?

So many things compete for the center of our hearts — some good, some not. Yet even when we gain them, something is still missing. True fulfillment can only be found in Jesus.
We discover our purpose when we respond to the greatest need the name of Jesus saw and acted on: humanity without hope.

Here’s the question:

Almost half the world has no access to the gospel. A generation is waiting.

 What will your response be?

This week, we’ve gathered together as eight DTS schools from across Europe with one heart — to know God more deeply and to be freshly stirred for His mission in the nations.

As we listen, learn, and respond together, we believe God wants to expand our vision, build faith, and send us out again with courage and love. Whether we’re tuning in from Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, or beyond — we are one family, part of one story, and called to one mission.

Throughout this week, this page will be your space to stay connected and engaged.
Let’s lean in with open hearts and expectation — ready for what God wants to do in us and through us as we unite around His global purpose.

“Here am I. Send me!” – Isaiah 6:8

The Schedule

Info for the Week

  • This week is an opportunity to connect beyond your own DTS — to share stories, faith, and friendship with students and staff from across Europe. Sit with someone new at meals, join others in prayer, and be intentional to build community.

Let’s carry the value of family and celebrate the diversity of the nations represented in this DTS Week!

  • We’re believing this week will be a time of calling, breakthrough, and fresh commissioning.

In the days leading up, take time to:

    • Pray for God to prepare your heart

    • Lay down distractions and expectations

    • Ask God to speak personally to you about your part in His mission

We believe the Lord wants to release identity, callings, and freedom as we gather.

We’ll have teaching sessions, times of worship, and space to respond together.

Please come on time, ready to engage fully — this week is not just about learning, but about encountering God together.

  • We’ll be joining in with Heidebeek’s normal work duties as part of serving our hosts and the base community.

YOUTH WITH A MISSION

a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world since 1960.

  • Youth with a Mission (YWAM) was founded in 1960 by Loren Cunningham. It is an international movement of Christians from many denominations. The vision is to see waves of young people going from every nation to every nation for the sake of the gospel and the glory of God. For over 60 years this global movement has trained and sent out young people to follow Jesus wherever He leads, believing that everyone can hear His voice and must obey Him. We have teams in almost every nation on earth and still believe that God wants to release even more young people into their missional calling.

Our goal is to know God and make Him known. We do this through Evangelism, Mercy Ministry and Training. YWAM is a family of ministries that give expression to this goal in a multitude of ways according to the giftings and callings of our teams. We run orphanages, do Bible studies with surfers, educate children, teach agricultural practices, talk to strangers on the street, gather artists for collabs and work with policy makers in government. What unites us is our love for Jesus and our common history, purpose and values.

This shared purpose and our YWAM beliefs and values are the guiding principles for both the past and future growth of our mission. Some are common to all Christians everywhere; others are distinctive to Youth With A Mission. The combination of this purpose, beliefs, values and practices makes up the unique family characteristics of YWAM—our “DNA.” They are the framework we hold in high regard for they help us determine who we are, how we live and how we make decisions.

  • This document presents YWAM’s sincerely held purpose, core beliefs, and foundational values which have been compiled in response to specific directives given by God since YWAM’s beginning in 1960. They are recorded here in order to pass on to successive generations that which God has emphasized to us.

Please take some time to read through it.

  • HISTORY
Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is a Christian missionary movement founded in 1960 by Loren Cunningham with a clear call to fulfill the Great Commission. Out of this vision, the first Discipleship Training School (DTS) was launched in 1969, creating a foundation for training young people to know God and make Him known. In 1978, the University of the Nations (UofN) was established in Kona, Hawaii, as a missionary training university designed to equip people holistically for life and ministry in every sphere of society.
The UofN has since grown into a global, decentralized, and multicultural university with over 600 training locations worldwide. Its heart is to form Christlike character, impart practical skills, and integrate hands-on outreach into every course. Organized into seven colleges, it offers short-term courses, certificates, and degrees, though its primary strength lies in equipping and sending workers into missions. Today, the UofN is one of the largest missionary training movements in the world, continually pioneering, multiplying, and empowering people to bring God’s love to the nations and into every sphere of society.

    AFTER DTS
Finishing your DTS is just the beginning. The UofN opens up a wide range of courses designed to deepen your faith, sharpen your skills, and equip you for missional living wherever God calls you. From Bible and leadership training to arts, education, counseling, communication, and more, these courses give you practical tools to serve God’s purposes in the nations. You can explore the full range of opportunities on the UofN website.

  • Loren Cunningham was in his early twenties when God called him to mobilize young people into missions. This was a massive paradigm shift in his time! Learn more about him and his wife Darlene here.

YWAM HEIDEBEEK

We’re so excited to be hosted by YWAM Heidebeek — one of the oldest and most established YWAM bases in Europe! Located in the beautiful Dutch countryside near Heerde, Heidebeek has been a place of training, sending, and encounter with God for decades. Thousands of missionaries have been equipped here and sent out to the nations — and now, we get to be part of that story too!

  • YWAM Heidebeek was pioneered in the 1970s by Floyd McClung and a team of passionate missionaries who first established the YWAM Amsterdam base in Amsterdam. As their vision expanded, Heidebeek became a key location for equipping and sending out missionaries, continuing the legacy of bold faith and innovation.

The first Discipleship Training School (DTS) was launched in 1977 and currently there are 2DTS’s offered annually at Heidebeek. In addition to the students and participants there are around 100 staff active at the base.

YWAM Heidebeek has a partnership with YWAM in Indonesia for the purpose of reaching the unreached with the Gospel.

  • Heidebeek is surrounded by forests, bike paths, and the peaceful rhythm of small-town Netherlands. The atmosphere is relaxed, green, and full of opportunities to connect — both with God and with each other.

  • The on-base café is a cozy hub where students, staff, and guests hang out during breaks. You can grab a hot coffee, tea, or snack, play some games, or simply enjoy good conversation. It’s a perfect place to meet new friends from other DTS’!

    Opening hours coffee corner:

    Mon: 1.30-3.30
    Tues: 1.30-4.30
    Wed: 1.30-3.30
    Thurs: 1.30-4.30

  • Right next to Heidebeek you’ll find peaceful forest trails — perfect for quiet time, prayer walks, or evening strolls with friends. The woods are safe, scenic, and full of Dutch countryside charm. Don’t forget your jacket — November can be chilly!

  • Welcome to the Netherlands — the land of bikes! Heidebeek has bicycles available for students to use. Take a ride into town, explore nearby villages, or just enjoy the beauty of the surrounding fields and forests. (Just remember: Dutch bike traffic rules are real — and the locals are fast!)

  • Feeling hungry? Just a short bike ride from the base, you’ll find local snack shops where you can grab some classic Dutch treats — like patat (fries) with mayo, frikandel, or kroket. If you’ve never tried them, this week is your chance!

    Or find Mcdonalds close by.

  • “Heidebeek” means “heather stream” — named after the small creek that runs through the property. It’s a beautiful reminder of God’s life flowing through this place and into the nations.

See you soon!!
