What is YWAM?

Youth With A Mission is a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups, and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. Also known as YWAM (pronounced “WHY-wham”), we unite in a common purpose to know God and to make Him known.

Meet our Base Leaders

Tobi  and Jessy Pfarrkircher together with their 3 children live the call "To Know God and To Make Him Known".

Tobi is German and Jessy is American. Tobi likes to start new things and moved to Berlin 10 years ago to start YWAM Berlin. Prior to that he also helped pioneer a YWAM base in Herrnhut Germany. He joined YWAM in 2002 because he loved the combination of: advancing the Great Commission; hearing God's voice and acting on it; mobilizing youth into mission; and serving alongside those from many cultures. He believes that this is a great season for an Awakening in Europe and that Berlin will play a role in being a blessing to the nations. Tobi loves sports, music, and hanging out with people.

Jessy has two big passions (besides her family): dancing and the Bible. When she joined YWAM in 2007 she began as a dancer touring the world with the Performing Arts ministry "Heartbridge" based out of Kona, Hawaii. In Berlin she helped to start and facilitate the Performing Arts DTS and dance ministry workshops for kids. In 2016, she felt called to use her gift of speaking different languages more in ministry. She is currently studying in the first Masters program of the University of the Nations - 'Applied Linguistics for Bible Translation'. At the same time, she joined YWAM's worldwide campaign to 'End Bible Poverty Now!'.  She is excited about the joint goal of YWAM and other organizations that soon all people groups can hold the Word of God in their own mother tongue! Together the family loves to live in community in the heart of Berlin, but at the same time they love the nations and traveling together.
